"The Lives of Others" Movie Review Essay & Film Analysis

'Comrade, Believe! It will be held -!
and democracy and transparency
And then State Security

And since than. a memorial for the majority of today's moviegoers filmmaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, it's his first major film, grab a deserved Oscar in the category of 'foreign film' in 2006. And, as you might guess, this is not a loud 'Tourist', which is a whole volume of the main actors. 'Tourist' was the film weak, and against the background of the first creations of the director general has demonstrated that Henkel Hollywood broke. His very first film Henkel filmed in his native Germany, and his 'Lives of Others' (Das Leben der Anderen, 2006) turned out almost a masterpiece.
What is the most advantages of the picture? First of all, in his promise. The film tells about the two heroes at once - the Stasi captain Gerd Veslere and secular playwright George Draymane, which falls into the category of those people that gave rise to the legend of the 'misdeeds' of law enforcement agencies, which have taken place until the time of apogee of Stalinism. Captain Vesler security is assigned to lead the surveillance of this same playwright Draymanom, and the story itself is told by both characters data, the story turns atypical, in its own interest and prepodnosyaschaya its surprises.
moral message of a painting there, and it is very powerful . The film tells not what strict people work in the security services, but primarily on how easily can a man whose whole life is in the works, to bring even the most near and dear man, if only he again allowed to do what he likes. How can selflessly help the officer, standing on the other side, his opponent, hating authority, despised her own views. The film is clearly abusing the communist time, it existed in the GDR, but does not impose his views, although seamy side to the side of power and law enforcement agencies expressed not enough. In fact, the main character, this is the captain of the Stasi Vesler is the only positive character in the whole film. playwright Sam looks somehow naive fool, almost on the chant is owed, what fools work in the Stasi (although these same 'stupid' at this very moment are listening to his apartment). The film tries to be fair to the audience and full of scenes that really deserve the rating R. In particular, the interrogation scene here looks fairly and firmly, though the hype with no beating here. In the film, there are a few sex scenes, but most of them carry a certain meaning. For example, as a lone officer, hated by many, or that it is ready actress, afraid of losing touch with the scene. In the film, there is a whole lot of episodes that clearly describe the 80 years of the GDR - it's like a dialogue of the hero (Captain Stasi) with a little boy in the elevator, and the questioning of the suspect in the prologue of the picture. Generally, the entire film is constructed in such a way that it seems that every scene is needed here, not a single millimeter shot in vain. Each episode is about saying something, everywhere contains a certain meaning. And it already says a lot about what a strong, powerful and dramatic movie before us, not without deeper meaning.
And because the meaning of the film in any case is not the dissatisfaction with the communist government (although notes of criticism here and there). 'The Lives of Others' in the first place tells about loneliness Stasi officer, who apparently only alone because of its service, because many people are just wary of him. The film tells of the hatred of the intelligentsia to the authorities, which pushes power in response, and on what the main conflict is based paintings. The fear of losing his beloved job pushes one of the main characters of serious, but not always well-considered actions. There even was a place of fear to say an extra word that can be seen in the story of a young employee of the Stasi joke higher ranks. Of course, the depth of the picture one way or another affects the subject of criticism of communism and the then government, but, as they say, anyone is entitled to their own opinion. In this picture, the authors of the opinion will not impose, but they tell an interesting and exciting, albeit a tough but realistic story that has a right to exist, and will remain in memory after viewing. There is no superficial glance at the total control of the problem, there is no superficial answers who the villain and who is a hero. Each of the characters has a negative and a positive exterior bottom (or vice versa). Each of the issues discussed in the film scrupulously discussed, each frame is verified and filled with the questions that are asking themselves and the audience the authors of the picture. And for this reason to doubt the drama "The Lives of Others" is not necessary.
Of course, most of the principal actors are not familiar to me, but thanks to this pattern is perceived as more credible and realistic. Trio protagonists played amazing. Ulrich Mühe plays the very chic captain of state security, which is the head of the operation to spy on the famous playwright. On the way he copes admirably, and played most of the eyes and face. It reminded me of the image of another intelligence agent - Smiley 'Spy, get out', played by Gary Oldman. Like Oldman, Ulrich plays the eyes, face, look. His character is silent, but at the same time extremely expressive. That he is the main jewel of this. Martina Gedeck played a very comely actress, mistress of the playwright himself, which was organized under surveillance. Gedeck played a very interesting role, and her performance I liked as a whole, and the role she was too deep. First she played a woman who fanatically devoted to favorite business. Sebastian Koch played image of the playwright, which was spying on the main character, and this image of him definitely to face. He has written on his face, that he was - a creative person, so the role of the melancholic writer included in the creative elite, the opposition Stasi officers - it is very suitable for the texture image
'The Lives of Others' -. A very strong drama about Seen a few people on the issue of totalitarianism, total control of the company in all areas of his life, showing the different ways to solve this problem: failure to act in fear and trying to lift his head. Let the drama and criticizes the GDR era of communism, but it tells a strong and interesting history, full of drama and human passions, and for this drama - the main thing. . Honored Oscar
