This is a type of encryption approach that is hand operated “symmetric encryption” method and was initial diagrammatic encryption method. It was drafted by one of the best cryptographic expert “Charles Wheatstone” (Wikipedia, August 3,2018, #1) in 1854 but was named as “Lord playfair”, it was kind of promotional stunt. This method id done by pairing of alphabets and but it easy understand but on the other hand it is more complex than another encryption method. It is naturally not easy to decrypt any text using this method since there we use frequency examination for “simple substitution ciphers” (Wikipedia, August 3,2018, #1).
It was the first technique which decrypt plaintext using pairing of alphabets in past cryptographic history. Wheatstone that inventor of this technique made this method for privacy in telegraphy, but it has the family of his friend who advertise it at the first place. This method was initially got condemned by British officials as there was too complexness in this technique but then he decided to give affirmation to public and eventually many of them matriculate it in 15 minutes. Then also foreign officials said then also you cannot explain it to the ambassador. Nevertheless, this technique was used in world war II as a strategical method for interaction in allies like “British and Australia” (Fred Cohen, 1995, #3).

Comparison with Vignere Cipher:
Say we got a “message that is encrypted, and it is our operation to decrypt” (Fortenforge, November 30,2009) it but initially we must know which encryption method is used to that ciphertext to accomplish decryption. As we know playfair cipher is complex and easy to understand that means cipher text that we will get may not be that robust but on the other hand Vignere cipher is classic and give us the concluding ciphertext that will be powerful. Vignere cipher as we know is “polyalphabetic cipher” not the mono one. It took three centuries to decode this cipher that means it is robust and is also known as no decipherable method. This technique was purely setup so that plaintext becomes disguise. In my opinion, Vignere cipher is more efficient than playfair (Fortenforge, November 30,2009).
